Although we live in grim times, artists are continuing to provide provocative, even playful critiques to neoliberalism, globalization and environmental destruction through performances, installations and other activities that simultaneously challenge the growing privatization of the public sphere. Unfortunately, this work sometimes remains in a kind of artistic ghetto and is little-known by other radical activists, so this evening is designed to help bridge some of those gaps. The panel will include both longtime and younger generations of cultural activists.
Panelists include:
Cynthia Copeland, New York Historical Society;
Beka Economopoulos and Jason Jones, Not An Alternative and The Change You Want To See;
Alan Moore, founder of ABC No Rio;
Gregory Sholette, Political Art Documentation/Distribution (PAD/D) and REPOhistory artists collective;
Lisa Maya Knauer, REPOhistory and Brecht Forum Board.
